EuroHockey starts today
Probably one of the toughest competitive tournaments in the world of field hockey according to players and coaches starts today
A smile comes to my face automatically when the European Champions start. Together with the EHL, the HIL and obviously the World Cup and Olympic Games, these Euros are a guarantee for some quality hockey and excitement.
Last years ‘surprise” finalists England get the show going in a meetup with their groups outsider Poland. The Polish teams usually fare better at indoor hockey, but a surprise is always a possibility. Last week we spoke with Zach Wallace about the Euros:
The opening game is followed by the hosts Germany, silver medallists from Paris 2024 and one of the favourites as usual for gold. They meet the French, who dissapointed at their home Olympics but under a new young coach seem to be ambitious again. They beat the Dutch in the last practice game before the EC. we all know results in practice games mean next to nothing but I’m sure it will have provided a confidence boost for the French.
