In 2026 the next men’s World Cup is being organised by both the Netherlands and Belgium. Meaning both these countries already qualified as the host. Australia just became the third nation to qualify for the World Cup.
For the first time in FIH history we have countries able to qualify for the World Cup through the FIH Pro League. This is because the FIH wanted the Pro League to be considered as more important for participating nations. Obviously in their original set up as an invitational event that could not be done. But now they have changed the rules with relegation and promotion options from the Nations Cup, so they were able to add a qualification spot.
