Breakable… by Elliot

Elliot Van Strydonck is a former Belgian international and silver medal winner from Rio 2016. He is launching a new podcast I think is worth a listen…

The first episode will launch tomorrow on Wednesday June 19.

Here, I open up about topics that are too often left in the shadow—those profound, sometimes taboo subjects that impact our mental health and physical development. By speaking with insightful guests and sharing authentic stories, I aim to break down barriers, offer support, and inspire meaningful change.

Whether you’re striving for mental clarity, emotional resilience, or physical vitality, my goal is to provide a safe space and open discussion for exploration and growth. Together, we can navigate the complexities of personal development and discover new pathways to a healthier, more fulfilled life.

When the Red Lions announced the selection for the final leg of the Pro League to be played in the Netherlands it was communicated this would also be the Olympic selection for Paris 2024. Striker Tom Boon (Léopold) made the selection after being dropped for the last EuroHockey Championships. Three young talents earned their spot with Arno Van Dessel (Herakles) in midfield and Nelson Onana (Braxgata→Léopold), as well as Thibeau Stockbroeckx (Oranje-Rood) in attack.

With Denayer and Dohmen on midfield selected for their 5th (!) Olympic Games and 14 players (from the 16+3 selection) who won Olympic gold in Tokyo, this might be the most experienced selection to start the Paris 2024 Games.

Stockbroeckx told La Libre:

From my point of view, I don't see it as a surprise. I have lived with this group for three years. I know everyone's game. With Oranje-Rood, I have matured a lot in five years,” continues the former Antwerp player. “During the Pro League, I had some good matches. I feel comfortable with this group. A selection remains a stressful moment.”
